Recently, a new class of stream processing engines have emerged which can scale to large number of machines to deal with Internet-scale data in a timely manner. But in many of these systems, window SQL is not fully supported nevertheless of its expressive power. In this paper, we discuss SQL queries to detect heavy hitters over massive packet data, which is one of the important applications in network management, in order to show the convenience of SQL and the necessity of its support.
